A new episode of the “Be Where You Are Today” podcast was recently released! To listen to the full version, you can find it on Apple podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and all your favorite podcast apps. I’m excited to share a few highlights from my conversation with Jeannie in this post. Jeannie is a longtime friend and client. And as our discussion reveals, Jeannie’s journey is a testament to the power of consistency, adaptability, and the joy of fitness.

Meeting Jeannie

You might remember from her 14 seasons on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Jeannie and I humorously recount how our fitness paths intertwined. Initially skeptical of working with me after looking me up on Facebook, she decided to give me a chance and its turned into a decade of exercise and friendship. From our early days of strength training to embracing the BodyFit by Amy videos during the pandemic, Jeannie shares her transformation from a self-proclaimed non-athlete to a confident fitness enthusiast.

The Power of Friendship in Fitness

One highlight from Jeannie’s story is her training partnership with her best friend David. Together, they navigated early morning workouts, pushing each other while cultivating a supportive and fun environment. Jeannie highlights the impact of a ‘safe space’ in fitness, a theme that resonates throughout her journey. Her emphasis on the camaraderie and motivation derived from working out with friends echoes the larger spirit of our BodyFit community.

Finding Fitness that Fits

A key aspect of Jeannie’s story is how she navigated hip issues. Her experience highlights the importance of finding exercises that suit one’s body, emphasizing that everyone can achieve their own version of fitness. By adapting her routine, she has been able to become her strongest self and continues to enjoy running at her own pace.

New YouTube Channel

Since working on the Ellen Show, Jeannie’s career has seen exciting new ventures. Alongside her brother, she’s involved in the “Raising Resilient Kids” project, focusing on mental fitness techniques for school children. Additionally, she has launched a YouTube channel, “Happy You’re Here,” aimed at providing quality screen time for toddlers. You can find both of those projects by following these links:

Jeannie’s story is about finding joy in movement and making fitness an integral part of life. Whether as a motivating presence in our fitness community or through her endeavors in children’s programming, Jeannie embodies the ethos of being present—staying true to the phrase, “Be Where You Are Today.”
