🦵Leg Day + Sneaky Mobility! 🤷‍♀️ Y’ 🦵Leg Day + Sneaky Mobility! 🤷‍♀️

Y’all know I love working lower body and going heavy on squats, lunges, deadlifts and swings—AND I love finding ways to sneak in mobility work!

Let’s be honest—we all know we need mobility training, especially as we age, but most of us aren’t making the time to get full on mobility work several days a week. This is why I include it in all my monthly calendars (Day 4, baby!) and why I created an entire “10 Minute Mobility” series on YouTube. And this is why I try to sneak it in your regular strength workouts as much as I can.

Sometimes it’s a mobility exercise on its own within a set, and sometimes it’s a weighted strength exercise with mobility built in—like these!

➡️Swipe to see my legs & glutes strength + mobility favorites, with modifications!

Do you enjoy “Sneaky Mobility?” How about “Sneaky Core” (My other favorite!)

Happy Friday, y’all!

✨Summer, you were magical ✨ AND….while I’ ✨Summer, you were magical ✨

AND....while I’m sad to see you go, I’m also ready to be back into a routine—especially for my kids!

This summer went fast and was full of adventure and travel to see family and we loved it all.

Aside from filming videos for BodyFit, I didn’t do a ton of structured workouts, but I did get outside and move in so many other fun ways. In years past, I would have stressed about missing a week of training, or not getting enough strength or cardio, or getting out of the routine and not able to get back. These days I can embrace the break (which our brains and bodies need!), enjoy the time doing other things and spending time with my people, truly let myself rest, and know I won’t lose progress or get out of my routine.

No more all or nothing thinking, just adjusting to different seasons of life and seeing it as an ever changing journey. Consistency is key, but consistency can look different week to week, month to month.

This week (post Labor Day here in the US) marks the unofficial end of summer/start of fall and I love the feeling of reset and refresh in the air. I’d also love a little breeze in the air, but here in LA, we have to wait a few months for that 😂

Unpause 2.0 just started in the BAC, and Strength HIIT kicked off over on the YouTube channel. Who’s moving with me this week?

Are you sad to see summer go or ready for the fall routine (or both, like me!)? What are you excited about?

Here’s to a strong September! Let’s do it!

Or really we ALL should be doing. 💪 I was rece Or really we ALL should be doing. 💪

I was recently featured for an article for @eatthisnotthat on exercises for longevity, specifically for women over 45. And yes, these exercises become even more important as we age, but truthfully, these are exercises we all should be doing—regularly. These exercises feature our principle movement patterns— squat, hinge, lunge, upper body push, upper body pull, and rotation— and they are extremely functional for building and maintaining strength for our everyday activities.

But well beyond that, skeletal muscle is our “organ of longevity” when it comes to disease prevention, brain health, and optimal mental health and more.

And yes, there are MANY more exercises I love and recommend, so these don’t have to be the only exercises you do! I love getting creative with variations on these movements, as well as incorporating accessory lifts, and of course, adding in cardiovascular and mobility training.

I’ll be discussing the role of strength training and muscle health extensively in our Unpause 2.0 group for perimenopause and menopause— we start September 1st—join us!

Swipe through to see the back to basics we all should be doing— and let me know which one is your favorite!

Date night and SoCal Sunsets and gentle reminders Date night and SoCal Sunsets and gentle reminders to breathe and be ❤️

I’ve been a little MIA here on social lately…Some of it was soaking in the last days of summer before my kids went back to school, some was the busyness and chaos that is August with work and family and life, and to be honest, much of it is just not knowing how to show up here sometimes. 🤷‍♀️

Don’t get me wrong, this community gives me life and I love connecting with all of you ❤️. But between trying to keep up with algorithm while trying to provide informative, evidence based, truthful content, the pressure to go viral, and not wanting to use fear or shame for clicks, it’s sometimes hard to know how best to use this platform.

AND… I know I will continue to keep showing up here, even if it looks different day to day, season to season. And I will keep trying to be where I am today and remember that rest is, in fact, productive.

I do have so many fun things coming up this week and next, including a free perimenopause/menopause course and our next BAC focus group and September YouTube free calendar—- so get ready!

And in the meantime, enjoy these sunset pics❤️

Special thanks to friends that made this much needed night out with my love possible.

Show up. Keep moving. Be where you are today ❤️
